BONUS DAY #62

I had a very long talk today about the teaching in Daniel and Revelation about the End of Times.  I always like for these kinds of talks to be positive and encouraging-not DOOM and GLOOM.  The best of time is at the End of Time!

Just like unleavened bread was/is part of the Passover meal and part of communion…..God is telling us to “ALWAYS BE READY.”  Always be up-to-date in relationship to God and up-to-date in your relationship to others.  If you are “up-to-date” then the End of Times idea should be exciting for you/us!

Every day is a Bonus Day.

BONUS DAY #61

We use an application that is pretty extensive when people go to the Holy Land with us.  It never ceases to amaze me how people who fill out an application with due dates, deadlines, and commitments, don’t come through as promised.  It wasn’t as if anyone forced them to make the commitments or meet deadlines.  When confronted, it is shocking and surprising how people meet the level of conflict with denial, with excuses, and (more often than not) defensiveness.

The kind of Christian integrity Jesus taught was “let your yes be yes and no be no.”  Say what you mean and mean what you say.  BACK IT UP!  Further, we need to hold each other accountable to BACK IT UP AS WELL!

There are way too many “pleasers” among our Christian Leadership today.  The “pleasers” are too concerned with what others think to ever take a person who claims to be a follower of the teaching of Christ to the task of actually following the teachings of Christ.  James said in Chapter 3–“Those of us who teach will be judged (by God) more strictly.  Christian Leaders can’t afford to be “pleasers.”  Placating and pleasing people is what the world does.  It isn’t what a anointed and called Christian Leader does.

Mother’s Day!  Celebrating Moms is such an important, noble and honorable thing.  Everyday should be “Mother’s Day” just like: Wait.  For. It.

EVERY DAY IS A BONUS DAY!

BONUS DAY #59

My brother and I watched a “G” rated western movie together today.  Decent plot, no cuss words, and  no bloodshed.  I’m really not a “goodie two shoes” person, but it was pretty cool to see a plot without the need to see all the “add-ons” that cause the restricted viewing ratings.  It is pretty bold to say, but I think it takes more work to create a plot line where you can tell a story with out the need to “show it all.”  It would be great if we could get ourselves back to when we worked harder at telling “the story.”

BONUS DAY #58

One of my favorite places on the planet is the Sea of Galilee in Northern Israel.  Thirty three of the forty three of Jesus’ earthly miracles were performed on the Sea of Galilee or around the shore line.  Forty three–43–miracles….each one touching lives and giving people meaning and purpose.  Jesus said “greater things shall you do than this…”  Miracles ARE NOT an end in itself.  Miracles move us closer to God–miracles are not token type “gods.”  Miracles are meant to point us deeper and clearer to God.  They give God the credit (the glory).  Miracles happen EVERY DAY in your life.  Keep your eyes open for them, AND give God the glory for them.

BONUS DAY #57

It has taken me a while to process a conversation from three months ago.  Someone I had been doing some humanitarian projects with cut off our partnership with the exclamation “I will NOT have my character questioned.”  It was a shocking moment for me, because I was under the impression that my whole reason for existence is to be a “watchman on the gate” (Biblically speaking).  It is important for us to point out to each other and be open to each other as to issues of BOTH activity (practice) and motive.  My confrontation included that of pride.  You won’t be “questioned” because your pride won’t allow it.  (I can’t say the confrontation of pride helped the situation).  The truth is each of us SHOULD HAVE our character questioned every day.  It is the work of the Holy Spirit to refine and purify us.  YES–the Holy Spirit is constantly questioning our practice and our motives–questioning our “character.”  We need to be open, honest and teachable–not closed and prideful.

BONUS DAY #56

Sitting in a Church Conference today.  One which I was once an active participant as a Pastor.  It is interesting to be an observer rather than participant.  You are able to see things from what I call “the sidewalk view.”  The sidewalk view is the vantage point that the “outsider” sees, and not one in the heat of the battle.  I wouldn’t say it is a better view–just a different view.  It did remind me that every did we should seek to see everything from a 360 degree perspective and not just my own.

BONUS DAY #55

If the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library isn’t able to clear a debt they incurred in the acquisition of a personal collection of President Lincoln of millions of dollars, according to several news sources, they may have to auction off President Lincoln’s trademark, stove pipe hat.  I can’t imagine losing that hat to the collection.  HOWEVER: a hat is just a hat.  It covers the top of your head.  In the bigger picture of it all–it is good to celebrate the contribution people have made, but Jesus made the biggest contribution of all!  “The first shall be last and the last shall be first.”  Always.

Every day is a Bonus Day.

Much Love,

BONUS DAY #54

Hearing things are heating up between Israel and Iran, Syria, Lebanon…..reminds me the idea of the End of Time is a REAL thing.  I love going to Israel and pray that we are able to continue to go in spite of the conflict and tension.  The Holy Land is the center of the world.  The books of Daniel and Revelation give us a glimpse of what to expect.  It is happening before our eyes.  We are living at the best of time.  Pray for the peace of Jerusalem and that God’s people–the Jews would turn their hearts to God.  We know from Revelation there will be a great End Time revival of the Jews coming to God.  We are living on the throes of seeing it with our own eyes.

Every day is a Bonus Day.

BONUS DAY #53

Tonight I watched a friend when a well deserved award.  It was fulfilling to see someone who works very hard receive acknowledgement for it.  I couldn’t help but reflect on the Biblical inferences to the Marriage Supper of the Lamb–also referred to as the “Bema” (Judgement) Seat of Christ.  God holds us accountable for the responsibilities we are given.  We aren’t judged by what someone else accomplishes, but by the potential we achieve by what we are given.  What are we doing with what we are/were given?

Think about it.

Every day is a Bonus Day.
