BONUS DAY #81

My heart is often drawn to Jerusalem where I love to go to the Sacred Western Wall and pray, taking requests with me to leave in the cracks of the Wall.  Today I had several friends in need of a miracle.  I’ve been praying boldly and believing for them.  Doing this is not just an opportunity, but a responsibility.  Jesus is at the Father’s Right Hand–pray boldly….and persist.

BONUS DAY #80

I met a chef from the Ivory Coast working hard at his work today.  He made me an egg white omelet.  As the chef (who said he was trained in Italy) talked, he related that Americans seem to eat immense amounts of food.  I was intrigued by the man’s observations and quiet demeanor in which he shared them.  As per my Cardiac Rehab training I asked him to not use any oil.  The chef was willing to please, but disappointed it didn’t hold together very well.  It was delicious.  I came away thinking about all he must have gone through to arrive at a job in the Chicago, Illinois area.  It was his dream job.  Thankfulness is the key to anything God gives us to do.

BONUS DAY #79

Listening to a friend describe his daughter’s battle with cancer and her decision to not let it slow her down was an inspiration.  The daughter was taking a train to see a friend, hauling her own luggage and changing trains a few times each way.  The Father (my friend) was concerned for the toll it might take on his daughter, but something in the story reminded me that by pushing forward and not slowing down is often the best remedy for our physical limitations.

BONUS DAY #78

Standing in a living room tonight with a family who had just lost the patriarch of the family.  He had been sent home from the hospital under hospice care.  The family moved a hospital bed into the front room and had 24 hour a day help.  He was surrounded by both children and his wife as he passed.  As I prayed with the family, I was impressed by the family support.  They got along with each other, and spoke nice to each other, and treated each other with respect.  Family wise–what I saw would be a great legacy for anyone.

BONUS DAY #77

I wore a pair of boots today that I didn’t want to wear, but I had bought them, never wore them, and kind of wanted to save the wear on a more (favored) pair.  While wearing these new boots (which I got on sale)  one of the boot hooks fell off.  BOOM.  I don’t know if I was more disappointed that the new cheap pair was falling apart right out of the box, or that I had left my more favored pair at home.  I promptly took them off, threw them into the waste basket of the room the meeting was held, and walked to the car in my stocking feet.  These are Bonus Days, I’m not going wear something cheap I don’t like.  I’m going to enjoy every moment–in every way!

BONUS DAY #76

It has taken almost 11 full weeks of Bonus Days but I am finally realizing that actual fruit tastes better than “fruit flavor” or any kind of candy.  This discovery is HUGE for a guy who has a life long “sweet tooth.”  I only wish I had made the discovery years ago……but then again, this kind of discovery is why God has allowed me Bonus Days!

BONUS DAY #75

Christianity has to be more than just something a person says they are…it needs to mean something, it needs to be “backed up.”  The only way to be an adherent of Christianity is to be first (and foremost) a follower of the TEACHINGS OF CHRIST.  You can’t adequately follow Christ without studying, applying, and practicing what Christ taught His disciples.

BONUS DAY #74

Grandma had a wall plaque that read:  “Only one life, twill soon be past, only what’s done for Christ will last.”

Every day is a Bonus Day.
