Bonus Day #178

Having sold our home while on our Holy land Tour, today was house hunting day.  We have looked at around 20 different homes.  The last one of the day was it.  WE FOUND IT.  Now is the rush of activities to make the deal go  through.  It is different looking at your earthly dwelling, while, at the same time dealing with people who are dealing with deeply spiritual issues.  You can never go wrong looking and dealing with your emotions.

Every day is a Bonus Day.

Much Love,

Marc

Bonus Day #177

Jet lag is the strangest feeling.  It isn’t exactly being tired and exhausted, but hungry all the time and never settled down.  All at the same time.  Your body is used to eating and sleeping on a schedule that is 7 hours difference that what you experience.  Suddenly it occurred to me–IT IS STILL A BONUS DAY!

Every day is a Bonus Day.

Much Love,

Marc

Bonus Day #176

Sitting in the airplane after a 12 hour flight from Tel Aviv to Toronto, a four hour wait for the connection to Chicago, the pilot comes on the intercom to say they had to reset their computer.  An hour and half later we were on their way.  It occurred to me in the midst of all of us wanting to get home, that God ALWAYS HAS A PLAN.  There is no “Plan B” with God, only the “Plan A PLUS.”  We have to believe that everything happens for a reason, not out of a randomness.

Every day is a Bonus Day.

Much Love,

Marc

Bonus Day #175

I noticed things being pretty tense in Bethlehem.  Under the Palestinian Authority, they have received billions of dollars of aid from the United States over the years, but it hasn’t really helped the people develop better lives.  The Governments receiving the money have squandered it on their own corrupt pleasures.  When the aid shrivels up, the Governmental Officials run off with the money and leave the people on their own.  It makes people bitter and angry in the midst of their destitution.  Yasar Arafat’s wife (the widow of the PLO Leader) has been tracked as having 1.8 billion dollars in US dollars in various foreign bank accounts only available for her.  Bonus days put me in the mood to make sure every penny that comes my way is treated as God’s provision not to be hoarded, and not to be frittered away on pleasure–but used as God’s resources that He has provided.

Every day is a Bonus Day.

Much Love,

Bonus Day #174

It never gets old describing origin of the Dead Sea as God redeeming something evil (Sodom).  Lot’s wife was turned into a pillar of salt because she turned back to the evil of Sodom while God was peppering it was fiery hail stones.  The explanation has no scientific or ideological value, so Jewish trained guides don’t mention it.  But I always mention it (with great enthusiasm) because I believe it is a story that needs to be told.  The Dead Sea is shrinking up.  God is trying to get our attention again.  This time through a drought that is slowly effecting the water level of Israel.

Every day is a Bonus Day.

BONUS DAY #173

Our hotel in Jerusalem this week is situation different from the hotel I am used to staying.  This hotel positions us to take a walk through the Zion Gate in Old City Jerusalem to get to the Western Wall to pray twice a day.  When we walk via the Zion Gate we go through the Jewish Quarter area of Old City.  The dynamic thought of walking this way (via the Zion Gate through the Jewish Quarter) is likely the area the two witnesses in the Book of Revelation will be preaching at the End of Time.  The two witnesses will be put to death by the people and because of their death people will celebrate to the point of exchanging gifts because they are dead.  Their bodies will lay on the streets of Jerusalem for three days until God brings them back to life.  Prophecies like this end up just being science fiction stories to most people.  BUT–I believe it and believe in it.  It is going to happen just like it says.

Every day is a Bonus Day.

Much Love,

Marc

Bonus Day #172

I was reminded today in a real way (and one I can’t describe because it involves something embarrassing to another person) how we don’t know what someone else is going through.  It is so important to cut each other slack and extend mercy and grace to each other.  I DON’T KNOW WHAT SOMEONE ELSE IS GOING THROUGH AND i DON’T HAVE TO HAVE DETAILS OF SITUATIONS.  I need to trust others and treat them the way I want to be treated.

Every day is a Bonus Day!

Much Love,

Bonus Day #171

Once again in my life I was able to do something that is astounding–travel up to Mount Zion, that beautiful city of God!  I love Jerusalem.  It is the center of the world.  It is where Abraham sacrificed Isaac, and many Biblical prophecies have been fulfilled, and will be fulfilled.

Every day is a Bonus Day–but especially if I am blessed to go to Mount Zion.

Much Love,

Marc

Bonus Day #170

I love it when an idea comes together–especially when it is an idea that God impressed upon me.  At the Jordan River I asked a lady Pastor (with a couple of bad knees) to stand on the edge of the River and after people were baptized to make a pronouncement when people were coming out of the water.  “YOU ARE MY BELOVED CHILD, IN WHOM I AM WELL PLEASED….” She would say with bravado, conviction, and command.  It was powerful.  Goose bump powerful….

Every day is a Bonus Day!

Bonus Day #169

When our Tour goes to Mount Carmel, I keep my eye open for a guy who sells beaded necklaces just outside the parking lot of the Church there.  He is a “Druze.”  The Druze are an Israeli supportive Muslim sect.  They fight fiercely along side of Israel in any conflict and are excellent trackers.  The Druze remind me that God’s promise to Ishmael was real–that He would bless them and help them if they did what He asked and submit themselves to the Hebrews.  The Druze, although half brothers to the Jews, as are all Arabs, understand the “lane they run.”  It is refreshing.  (BTW–I bought 90 beaded necklaces from him on this trip).

Every day is a Bonus Day!

Much Love,

Marc
