BONUS DAY #249

I read an article on the resurrection of Jesus sent to me by the Holy Tour Director of IGT Tours.  He was reading it and was interested the author separated out the resurrection appearances of Jesus to 10 (rather than 3 as traditionally we teach).  The way they were numbered were actually extensions of the original 3–just more specific.  The writer, a Messianic Jewish believer in Christ, bridged a couple of belief systems.  I was appreciative to read it, but also appreciative that my traditional Jewish friend, Yoram, was the one who sent it to me.  God is ALWAYS working.

BONUS DAY #248

I fell for it…..Black Friday deals.  It was that moment in Elkhart, Indiana of all places–the parking lot completely full at Menards–people with carts full of their “door buster” bargains backed up and wrapping clear around the massive store to check out and pay.  Some where in looking around, it made me realize the wait wasn’t worth the bargain.  BUT, A CUP OF COFFEE WAS WORTH THE TIME!  Ha!  So off we went to home.

BONUS DAY #247

Enjoying Thanksgiving is always a good reminder that EVERY DAY is Thanksgiving. No kidding….we should celebrate family, friends, food, and God’s provision every single day of our lives.  Thanksgiving Day is essentially the reminder that every day is Thanksgiving Day.

Every day is a Bonus Day.

BONUS DAY #246

Part 2 of my chain saw story:  It wouldn’t start this morning so I took it back to the store I bought it from and the guy said it was flooded.  He kindly took care of it and sent me on my way.  On the way out of the store we talked about chain saws and I asked him which one was his favorite and he showed me.  I ended up buying it.  So now I have two chain saws.  It will help if/when I flood one.  The only thing will be if I flood them both!  I think I must have some kind of “gift” on flooding chain saws.  I want to get the hang of it, but since it is a Bonus Day, it doesn’t matter.

Every day is a Bonus Day!

BONUS DAY #245

I broke out my new chain saw for an hour or so today, ran it out of gas, and then flooded it and it wouldn’t start.  There was an hour or so of daylight and I wanted to finish my backyard project, but had to put the chain saw down and let the sun go down.  There are moments in life where you have to yield “to it.”  You have to yield your own will to what is happening around you and just go along with it.  A person never knows what God might be saying or doing.  Yielding to the moment allows God the time to work and us the time to be less impatient.

Every day is a Bonus Day.

BONUS DAY #244

We experienced a Church recently (not the one you are thinking of either….!) who had a group of very friendly greeters….maybe….a little too friendly.  They gushed over us.  They asked too many questions–apparently trying to gather information.  It occurred to me that what people need is not another friendly Church–but a Church were people can make a friend.  You can train people to be friendly.  You can train people to be greeters.  You can’t train people to be a friend.  Bottom line:  Be a friend.  Don’t worry about being friendly.

Every day is a Bonus Day.

BONUS DAY #243

We had a great time this morning with a group of men from Muncie, Indiana at their monthly men’s breakfast.  They had a work project just after the breakfast where they were going to decorate the huge blue spruce in the front of the Church next to the highway.  It is always heart warming to see people get along and enjoy each other in community together.  It is in this spirit of unity that people are drawn.  Invite family and friends into and to your community.  They will respond.  They will accept your invitation.  People need the community of Lord.

BONUS DAY #242

Snow blow the driveway or let it melt on it’s own?  “Less” is often “more”–except if “less” leads to re-freezing, in which case “more” would have been better.  I followed this logic and ended up doing “more” and came out ahead of the game.  Those of you in a warm climate won’t have to deal with any of this at all–(and probably think it is crazy).  Bottom line–“less isn’t always more….”

BONUS DAY #241

I was reminded today how important friends are in/to/for our lives.  A call from a friend with the conversation he had with someone else who didn’t know me very well makes me realize that friendship is an important investment in life.  The loyalty a true friend extends at a key into your life and for your good name is a joy of Biblical proportion.  (It is actually in the Bible)!

BONUS DAY #240

Getting used to using power equipment has taken me by surprised.  I probably bought too many items at the same time, because each of them start differently.  You put on the choke, but each of them using the throttle differently.  Interestingly, I have had to pull out the owner’s manual on a number of occasions over the last couple of weeks.  It suddenly occurred to me at a moment this morning:  I had spent more time in the owner’s manuals today than reading the Bible.  Talk about conviction!  Ouch!  I’m signing off to go read the Bible and spend some time with God…….

Every day is a Bonus Day!
