BONUS DAY #293

Give each day to God.  Just give it to Him.  Don’t ask Him–“What does this day have for me?”  Because it is about you–not about God.  Each day we receive is not just a blessing, and certainly not just a “BONUS DAY” but each day belongs–start to finish–to God.  If you give your day to God, then, and only then will you truly “be” God’s!

Every day is a Bonus Day!  (And each Bonus Day is God’s).

Much Love,

Marc

BONUS DAY #292

I have really been thinking about how far our Sunday preaching is straying from the Word of God.  The Bible teaching/preaching at the End of Time is actually part of Biblical Prophecy.  There will be a famine in the land of “my Word says the Lord.”  Not only a Sunday Morning issue, people today don’t read it, study it, know much about what the Bible says, and are too distracted to get into it.  It’s time for us to realize that a lack of the Word of God is why our country (and whole world for that matter) has such a division.  The basic premise of Jesus’ teaching is to “love one another.”  He said the whole Bible is summed up with “Do unto others the way you would have them do unto you.”  There you go….let’s get back in it and into it!

BONUS DAY #291

I had to apologize today for something that wasn’t “directly” my fault, but because I am ultimately responsible for the situation, it is on me to make it right.  It was an oversight, simple human oversight, but never-the-less, caused extra work for some and inconvenience for others.  PLUS, it was something that could have been prevented had I personally doubled checked a person’s help (or something I thought they had done).  I believe, AND teach it:  You have to apologize and accept responsibility as part of the problem solving process.  Many people don’t want to apologize they just want to problem solve and move on.  The problem with not apologizing is the process gets too rushed.  There may be things involved that need ironed out further in a situation.  If you rush the process the things that are systemic may not get ironed out.  So here goes:  When you realize there has been an error on your watch–First accept responsibility for it.  Second, look deeper around it.  There have been other errors in the same context being overlooked at the same time.  Third, figure out a way to move forward.  (At least offer up options and solutions).  Fourth, MOVE ON.  Put it behind you.  If others won’t or hold it against you–that’s their problem.  (If they hold it against you a relationship with them in whatever capacity the context was/is, wouldn’t have worked out very well anyway).

BONUS DAY #290

While working on a new project for 2019 I really was able to focus on a statement Job makes–“He who made me in the womb, made them in the womb.”  As I pointed out in the project, when “womb” is mentioned in the Bible it is a heart stopping moment of reverence.  The original word means a Holy and Reverent and Complete Accomplishment.  WOW.  Heart stopping.  Job is showing us that we can better control our thoughts, our will and our emotions–“I will make a covenant with my eyes,” idea.  Our “control” of thoughts, will and emotions comes as we take it down a notch by  TREATING OTHERS BETTER.

Bonus Day #289

My lung condition has been giving me “fits” lately, so I had to up the medication some.  It gives some relief but seems to make me edgy.  Edginess is that thing that creeps up on me.  I don’t realize what is going on unless it is pointed out.  Better breathing, but harder to be around…YIKES.  Good for me, but bad for you–(kind of thing).  The cycle is a constant reminder that life is short and you need to do all you can for God with TODAY–regardless of how you “feel.”  As far as “awareness goes,” one’s awareness of God’s presence is the key to everything.

BONUS DAY #288

I had the honor today to participate in a unique experience.  A Pastor was apologizing to his congregation and I was asked to coordinate and moderate the service.  Restoration, reconciliation and forgiveness were all present (as it should be), but it occurred to me how often those three things are not present today.  They should be.  They must be.  We need to pray until we see RESTORATION, RECONCILIATION, AND FORGIVENESS as part of our personal lives in every way.  Once part of our personal lives–THEN (and only THEN) we will see them in the Church!

Getting “caught up” is only fun after you have actually gotten “caught up.”

BONUS DAY #286

Forest Lawn Cemetery in Southern California is institutional for its beauty and presentation.  We were able to tour Forest Lawn Glendale while staying in Glendale, California.  It was a unique/interesting/powerful and yet provocative experience.  The mixture of the religious, the spiritual, and even the pagan reviles anything I have ever seen.  Jimmy Stewart of “It’s a Wonderful Life” has a little marker on the hillside, whereas Michael Jackson has a huge crypt that people can’t see unless they are family.  People still leave flowers every day outside the door of his crypt.  The day we were there, there were long letters written and left at the door with the flowers.  The letters were written as if he were alive and could read them.  It is interesting how people process loss–or even how they process what “loss” even is in life.  We need to keep advancing the Good News of Christ!

BONUS DAY #285

Today we went to the President Ronald Reagan Library in the Simi Valley, California, area.  Because most of the funding for President Reagan’s library is from private donations/foundations, all the exhibits were open.  (Verses the Nixon Library with just Government funding).  We were young adults, finishing college, buying a home, and getting started when President Reagan was in office.  The one thing we remembered the most was he had a way to communicate hope to (and into) the American people.  The hope he instilled at that time was and is deeply appreciated.  I speak for all of us.

BONUS DAY #284

Presidential Libraries are one of our “things.”  While in Southern California, there are two–Nixon & Reagan.  Off today we went to the Nixon Library.  However, we are in the midst of a government shut down with the battle over the budget/border wall–so most of the exhibits were closed.  We did see plenty and they represented President Nixon very well.  Generally speaking, President Nixon is remembered for how his Presidency ended in disgrace and resignation, but the truth is, there is so much more to him and his Presidency then how it/he ended.  He did a lot of good stuff during his time in public service, regardless of politics.  It was refreshing to see a different perspective of President Nixon.

Every day is a Bonus Day!
